What does "we'll see" mean?

It means 1 of 2 things, and they are opposites. Either it is a real maybe, or it is a no he does not want to say out loud.

The 2 words look the same either way. So the words are not where the answer is, and that is why you have read 5 pages about this and still feel stuck.

Every answer you have found is about a stranger

"What does it mean when a guy says we'll see." That question has no answer, because it is asking about 2 words with nobody attached to them.

Some people say "we'll see" when they mean "I have to check my shift." Some people say it when they mean no and do not want a conversation about it. Both are normal. A list cannot tell you which one he is.

The 1 thing that decides it

Go back and find the last time he said it to you. Then look at what came next.

That is not a guess about men. It is a pattern with 2 points in it, which is 2 more than the screenshot in front of you has.

2 things that change the read

Who asked. "We'll see" after a plan he brought up is a different sentence from "we'll see" after a plan you brought up. The second one is doing more work.

How he normally answers. If he is short with everyone about everything, this is Tuesday. If he usually gives you a straight yes, then a vague answer is the message, and the vagueness is the part that changed.

What to send back

Do not ask him to define it. "So is that a yes or a no" forces him to pick right now, and people who are pushed to pick early usually pick no. You will get a real answer and it will be worse than the one you had.

Put a soft edge on it instead. Something like: all good, just let me know by thursday.

That does 3 things at once. It takes the pressure off, it gives the plan a real end point, and his answer to it tells you which of the 2 meanings you were dealing with. If thursday comes and nothing arrives, that is the answer too, and you did not have to ask for it.

If it turns out to be a soft no

A soft no about friday is not a verdict on you. People say it when they are tired, when they are unsure, when they are busy with something they have not told you about yet.

The useful move is to stop spending the week decoding 2 words, let the deadline do the work, and go back to your own plans. If he wants it, he will come back to it. If he does not, you found that out on thursday instead of in 3 weeks.

What ZZEND does with this

You paste the conversation and it reads "we'll see" against him rather than against a list — whether he has used those words with you before, what happened after, and whether this is his normal way of answering or a change.

Then it writes the reply back in 4 tones, and tells you if the better move today is to wait instead of sending anything.
