Is he talking to someone else?

Updated September 23, 2026

Texts cannot show you who else he is texting. They can show you what changed in yours, and when it changed.

That distinction matters, because almost everything that feels like evidence here is a change with several possible causes, and only 1 of them is the one you are afraid of.

What a real change looks like

Not 1 slow reply. A change is the same shift showing up in 3 separate places: how fast he answers, how much he starts, and how specific his plans are. When only 1 of the 3 moves, it is usually a busy week.

It also has a start date. Try to find the week it began, and then ask what else was happening in his life that week. A new job, an exam period, a family thing and a new person all produce similar text patterns, and the calendar often separates them.

The things that prove nothing

Being online and not answering you. Phones are open for 40 reasons.

New photos, new tags, a follow you did not recognise. Social media is the worst available evidence about anybody, and it is where most of these nights get spent.

Fewer messages during hours he used to be free. That is worth noticing and it is not proof. It is a question with a name, which is the most any of this gets you.

And checking his profile repeatedly will not resolve it. It produces new material to interpret, and interpreting is already the part that is taking up your evening.

The version of this question you can actually answer

Not is there someone else. That one only he can answer. The one you can answer is has this changed, and how much, and the thread has that in it.

That reframing matters because the second question leads somewhere. It gives you something concrete to raise, which is the only route to the first answer anyway.

How to ask

Bring the change, not the accusation. Things feel different to me the last few weeks. Is something going on? is answerable. Are you talking to someone else is a yes or no question about a subject people rarely answer honestly when it is put that way first.

Ask once and ask in daylight. Late at night everything sounds like a confrontation, including the sentence you spent an hour softening.

If the answer does not match what you can see, that mismatch is its own information. You do not need to prove anything to act on what you now know about how it feels to be in this.

What ZZEND does with this

ZZEND tracks how this person normally texts you, so a change gets flagged as a change rather than as a feeling. It looks at the shape of the last weeks, not at 1 message.

It describes tendencies, not facts. It cannot tell you who anyone is talking to, and it will say when there is not enough to call it. Then it helps you write the message that asks.

Questions people ask

How can you tell if he is texting someone else?

You cannot tell from your own thread, and any page that says otherwise is guessing. What you can read is whether his pattern with you changed, when it changed, and how much. That is the part that leads to a real conversation.

He is online but not replying to me. What does that mean?

Very little on its own. A phone gets opened for dozens of reasons. It is only worth weighing if his overall pattern with you has moved as well, and even then it is a question rather than an answer.

Should I check his social media?

It tends to produce more material to interpret without settling anything, and interpreting is usually already the tiring part. A direct question about what changed gets you further in 5 minutes.

How do I ask him without sounding accusing?

Lead with the change rather than the conclusion. "Things have felt different for a few weeks, is something going on" is answerable, and it leaves room for the answer to be something other than what you fear.
