What do I say after no contact?

30 days of sending nothing, and now the hardest message of the whole thing.

It has 1 job: to be easy to answer.

What it is not for

Not for summarising what you worked out. Not for apologising again. Not for asking where you stand.

All 3 are real, and all 3 belong to a later conversation. Putting them in the first message turns it into a document, and documents do not get replies.

The shape

Short. Specific. About something outside the 2 of you. Answerable in 1 line with no decision attached to it.

The part almost everybody gets wrong

Referencing the silence. "I know it's been a while" puts the gap in the room before anything else does, and now the reply has to be about the gap.

After you send it

Do not send the second one.

Whatever comes back — including nothing — is information, and the next move depends on which one it was. A warm short reply and a polite short reply look nearly identical and mean different things.

What ZZEND does with this

It writes this one against the person, using what they were like before the silence rather than a template.

And it reads the reply when it comes, which is the part that is genuinely hard to do on your own.
